Water is one of the most essential elements that all living things require. For human beings, drinking water has to be clean and hygienic if not clean, unhealthy water can lead to fatal health problems and diseases. No matter how difficult circumstances one is capable of surviving, pure drinking water is something that cannot be replaced. That is why campers take their outdoor water filter bottles along with other Camping supplies. Yet, water filters are not just a piece of outdoor camping gear. They are also necessary in houses and industries as well.

The use of water filtration system is centuries old and since then humans discovered diseases and medicines, they got to know the importance of healthy and pure drinking water. Ancient ways of water filteration included boiling and distillation. It is believed that the number of impurities found in water nowadays is more than it was in old times. Therefore, we need stronger and powerful filtration systems today.

Tap water is not healthy to drink, and contains countless bacteria, injurious organisms, impurities and other contaminants. Some filter systems may deprive the water of its useful chemicals and minerals while some might add these essentials in the water. Let’s take a look at some of the most common water filter systems used in houses nowadays.

Carbon water filters: This kind of filters generally has a carbon cartridge composes of coconut husk when the water passes through the cartridge, it prevents all the contaminants except for sediments. It is the most commonly used type of water filter in our homes.

Charcoal water filter: It generally has two types, it can be a carbon block filter or Activated Silver Impregnated charcoal filter. In both cases, it can takes out more containment than a carbon filter. Yet, carbon filters may not normalize the PH level of acidic water. These filters also come with a unique micron ratings. Only a filter with a micron rating below 0.01 is able to filter out viruses.

Ceramic Water filter: The main element that helps in filtration process in ceramic filter is Diatomaceous earth. It is a fossil substance that is composed of silicon shells and this substance absorbs the tiny impurities and bacteria from the water and a layer of silver helps in reducing growth of these impurities.

Reverse Osmosis: This type of filter systems is said to be the most successful filter system to date. It eliminates most of the containment and impurities that other kinds of filters might have left out. One drawback, however, is the absorption of useful minerals along other contaminants. According to health organizations, water without these essentials can be equally dangerous. Hence, these minerals must be addedagain in order to make the water safe to drink.

UV filter systems: In these types of filter systems, a high frequency ray is introduced into a glass or container. The light instantly kills all the impurities present in the water. Although, it is a fast and instantaneous way to purify a glass of water, the result is always unsure without a lab test.
